Tip of the Day: Get Rid of It

As we start to take down Christmas trees and put things away untl next year, what better time then now to organize and get rid of items that you no longer use. Good rule of thumb, if you have not used or decorated with something in 2-3 years get rid of it! While putting up ornaments this year I noticed that I had duplicates of many of my ornaments, if you have the same problem (although, one can never have too many ornaments) put them up for sale on EBAY or Craigslist. May some extra cash and get more room by getting rid of it.

SERVICES• Heart of The Home will work with the seller to decide what to keep, donate, sell, or trash in order to declutter the home.
• Heart of The Home will pack, transport, and store items that a seller will be eventually moving to their new home. Removing these items from the current space will create a less cluttered look and feel that will be appreciated by potential buyers. This step will also help considerably in preparation for the upcoming move.
• Heart of The Home will assist with unwanted items that need to be trashed, donated or sold.
Remember: Any time or money invested in decluttering and depersonalizing a home will bring back more money in return, and hopefully a faster sale.
Declutter & Depersonalize
• Your clients are going to be moving shortly anyway so it's in their best interests to go ahead and start getting rid of the things they'll never need again and boxing up the things they can live without for a couple of months.
• Sellers will agree: "Why drag clutter to their new home!" which is costly in the form of time, energy, and money.
• They should clean out about 50% of the things in their closets, most of the knickknacks displayed around the home, and enough furniture to make the rooms look open and inviting.
• Countertops should be clean and uncluttered. Even the cabinets and drawers should contain only a few items, because, as you know, serious buyers will be opening doors and drawers; and they will want to see a lot of space.
• Clients should know how important it is for them to remove most of their family photographs and personal collections. Buyers are trying to envision themselves living in every home they tour and it's very hard for them to do that when faced with the seller's personal items. Every room of the house should have a general appeal for the majority of buyers.

Payment Policy

• Payment due at time of service.

• Method of Payment Accepted: Visa, Master Card, checks, cash.

• Cancellation Policy: Kindly provide 24 hours notice if you must cancel a session. Sessions cancelled without at least 24 hours advance notice or if you are not present when I arrive will be subject to a $50.00 cancellation fee.

• There will be a $20.00 charge for bounced checks and then only credit card, money order, or cash will be accepted as payment.

• Sales tax will be added to all invoices, where applicable.


• Moving/Storage Supplies: Based on per usage basis. Cost will be included in final or interim invoice.

o Any 4 hour period - begin and end time is flexible
o Hours must be used within 1 month of first appointment

"More is Better" Multiple Session Package:
o Three sessions at 4 hours each - begin and end time is flexible
(or any 12 hours with a 3 hour minimum per session)
o Hours must be used within 3 months of first appointment

o Ongoing Support - 3 months e-mail/phone support

"Beginning to See the Light at the End of the Tunnel…or the Floor" Additional Sessions Added to Multiple Session Package. 4 hour sessions added at multiple session rate

"Don't Leave Me Yet" Maintenance Package:
o With the purchase of a Multiple Session Package
o Any 8 hours per month
o Due on the 1st of the month
o Includes on-going support for the duration of the package

"Moving On" Home Staging Special:
o With the purchase of a Multiple Session Package

In general, we can work within your budgeted dollar amount and complete the tasks according to your priority.
